What is Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy is about understanding your unique constitution and your relationship with food. Food is medicine, and through your diet and lifestyle choices, you can harness this power, to optimize your health and wellbeing.

What is my training and approach?

I am a registered Nutritional Therapist, following 3 years study at CNM. I provide you with evidence-based advice following the functional medicine approach. Symptoms are an indication of imbalances and nutrient depletions within the body. Through personalised diet and lifestyle recommendations, we'll work together to address the root cause of chronic conditions, supporting systems under stress and restoring balance in the body.

Is Nutritional Therapy suitable for you?

Nutritional Therapy is suitable for everyone, at every stage of life. It is suitable for those who would like to alleviate specific symptoms, as well as those looking to optimise overall health and wellbeing.

I have a special interest in the area of Sleep, working with my father Professor Simon Ash, for over 10 years who is an expert in Snoring and Sleep Apnoea, Inventor of the revolutionary Somnowell Device. Diet and lifestyle choices can hugely influence the quality of our sleep. I have successfully supported many people who have had sleep challenges.

What is a Personalised Nutrition Plan?

A personalised nutrition plan is a tailor-made food plan suited to you. Your genetic background, lifestyle, health history, and even your microbiome, influence which foods nourish you the best, and this can change over the course of life. With personal nutrition, it's more than a diet to follow, its an understanding of the biological constitution of your unique body, and identifying the foods that help you to feel your best, so that you can feel empowered to take an active role in your health and wellbeing.

3 Simple Steps - 6 Month Package

Longterm, sustainable habits may take time to form. With my "3 simple steps" plan, we will work in collaboration, towards your goals in 3 achievable, measurable steps at a time. You will be given the tools, motivation, and support you need, to form new habits and cultivate long-term, sustainable change. 

  • You will be sent a 3-day food diary to complete ahead of our meeting.

  • During the initial consultation, we will discuss your goals and will take an hour to gather information about your history, and review systems of the body, to draw a picture of your overall health.

  • I will then devise a personal nutrition plan for you. We’ll then go through this together and will agree on the 3 achievable steps to work on until we next meet. 

  • 30-minute follow-up sessions will be held on a monthly basis, we will assess progress and set the next 3 steps.

  • Plan duration is 6 months.

 

Your bespoke toolkit will include

  • Advice on nutrient-rich foods suitable to your unique constitution.

  • Lifestyle recommendations

  • Targeted supplements - I may recommend targeted supplements which may require an additional fee.

  • Tests and tracking - I may recommend investigative tests which may require an additional fee.

Nutrigenomics is the study of how environmental factors such as diet and lifestyle affect the expression of our genes. With access to our unique genetic blueprint, personal nutrition is taken to a whole new level.

It is well-known that genetics plays a crucial role in the way that our bodies use different macronutrients and micronutrients. Understanding your sensitivities gives you tangible evidence to work from and cuts out the trial and error. 

I am a trained "DNA Fit" Practitioner. I can interpret your test results and devise a bespoke nutrition plan using this information.

  • You will be sent a 3-day food diary to complete ahead of our meeting.

  • During the initial consultation, we will discuss your goals and will take an hour to gather information about your history, and review systems of the body, to draw a picture of your overall health.

  • I will then devise a personal nutrition plan for you. We’ll then go through this together and will agree on achievable steps to work on until we next meet. 

  • one FREE 30-minute follow-up session will be held 4 - 6 weeks later. We will assess progress and I will update your personal nutrition plan.
